Inventory: Kadıköy

We started the Inventory series in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul, our own neighborhood, as a practice ground to refine our methodology and process of capturing a diverse range of objects. This includes elements of varying complexity, size, and number, such as bollards, dilapidated cars, benches, concrete pots, and mailboxes, often adorned with paint, stickers, and graffiti. In composing the Kadıköy inventory, we embraced the element of chance, allowing coincidences to guide the arrangement of objects. This approach mirrors the inherent chaos and vibrant spirit of the city, creating a random yet harmonious composition that reflects the dynamic and ever-changing nature of urban life.

Our Kadikoy/Istanbul street furniture inventory (approx. 350 units) is installed on a push cart which is widely used by refuse collectors in Istanbul.

The Fiat 124 is a small family car manufactured and marketed by Fiat between 1966 and 1974. The Fiat 124 was also produced in Turkey by Tofaş under the names “Murat 124” between 1971-1977 and “Serçe” (“sparrow” in Turkish) between 1984-1994, in Bursa, Turkey. 134,867 Murat 124s were produced between 1971 and 1994.

We have 3D scanned nearly 400 unique street furnitures of Kadikoy, Istanbul with almost 20K photographs. These are bunch of them rotating in a perfect loop. Our new series "Inventory" will continue with New York, Venice and Berlin in the next months. We highly recommend to experience this with a VR headset.
