Inventory: Napoli
Inventory: Napoli is a digital installation that showcases selected architectural works and sculptures meticulously documented in 3D using photogrammetry in Naples, Italy.
Napoli I features the Caserta Palace, a significant example of Baroque architecture, the courtyard of the Ciara Monastery, and various sculptures spanning from the Roman period to the present day. Inspired by the ever-present threat of Mount Vesuvius, which famously buried Pompeii in 79 AD, the 3D assets are arranged within rock formations to evoke the look of an archaeological site embedded in volcanic rock. This arrangement not only references the historical and geological context of the region but also highlights the enduring and precarious nature of its cultural heritage.
Napoli 2 extends this exploration by using facades of historical buildings and structures adorned with graffiti to create a layered design. This piece juxtaposes the grandeur of historical architecture with the contemporary urban elements of graffiti, reflecting the diverse and layered history of Naples.
